Litgrid: Palanga – Vėjas project

Litgrid, Lithuania’s transmission system operator, faced the challenge of integrating more wind energy into their grid while optimizing the use of existing infrastructure. They deployed SUMO, a dynamic line rating (DLR) software, on the Palanga – Vėjas overhead line. This line, consisting of 36 towers along the Lithuanian coastline, benefited from SUMO’s ability to dynamically adjust power flow based on real-time weather data. The software allows Litgrid to increase grid capacity without additional infrastructure, supporting the integration of more renewable energy.
