Smart Wires strengthens leadership team with appointment of Dr. Jesse Tucker as Chief of Engineering

Smart Wires today announced the appointment of Dr. Jesse Tucker as Chief of Engineering to lead the global engineering team that develops new products and sustains existing products in the company’s suite of grid enhancing technologies. Dr. Tucker is an experienced technical leader with nearly 30 years of experience in electrical engineering, research and development (R&D), and product management across a range of companies from start-ups to large global companies such as General Electric.

Dr. Tucker has spent over 15 years in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, which is home to Smart Wires’ global headquarters featuring state-of-the-art R&D, testing and validation laboratories.

Prior to joining Smart Wires, Dr. Tucker consulted on product development for growing companies, with a focus on regulatory compliance, PCBA design, full system architecture development, and the implementation of engineering department best practices. He also held multiple leadership roles, including Director of Product at Sense Photonics, Inc. (now Ouster) and Vice President of Engineering / Chief Technology Officer at Valencell, Inc., a company he co-founded in 2006 that pioneered the wrist heart rate sensors now commonly used in fitness wearables and watches.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Tucker worked at General Electric’s Global Research Center  as the principal investigator and technical lead on wide bandgap semiconductor research. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computing Engineering, with a concentration in semiconductor physics, from George Mason University, where he also earned a M.S. and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
